Human Life International Family has launched a new website for Europe
24.08.2009, 21:40
Starting August 20, 2009 a new website www.hli.eu is available. Its main objective is to facilitate communication between all defenders of human life. We hope that the portal will be multilingual. One of its valuable features is a calendar of planned activities and events.

This website was created at the initiative of Human Life International - Poland. We have assembled a group of devoted pro-lifers from all over Europe who have promised to translate the text into their own languages. From a technical point of view, we decided that English will be the relay language. This means that the persons who add new information, enter it in their native language and English. Then the other contributors translate the text into their languages. All promise to keep checking the system, we hope that translation delays will not exceed a few days. If on a non English page an English text appears, it means that the translation has not yet been done. The publicly accessible website is fairly simple, but the system of introducing new information and managing interpretations is much more complex and requires the users to login.
On the home page, we have a map of Europe where if you scroll over it and click the information appears on the organization in the area, which is a member of the Human Life International family (HLI). Flags indicate what languages they speak. There are, of course, contact details and a website.
The next tab will have interesting links and news. We do not plan to duplicate other pro-life news agencies. It will not be competition to them. On this page we will post only information that is very important to us. A large volume of messages would discourage our volunteer translators from working quickly. Expansion of this service would entail substantial costs.
The next tab is the place where you can download pro-life print quality photos. You can use them only to defend human life.
The last tab will probably be most popular. Apart from a short text describing the objectives and tasks of the HLI family, there is the calendar. At the beginning it shows the current month. Of course you can move back and forward and select a different year or month. If you click on the word “calendar”, it switches to the annual mode. A blank (clean) box will mean lack of entries. The day number included in a frame is an anniversary and if the whole field is colored it means that there will be or was an event.
For example, it may be a several days conference. If you click on a given date you will find information about events at the top of the screen,. Here we have two lines of text information, the name of the country where this happens and the city. There is also a website address given by the organizer of the event. Information is also given if the event is a multiday one. If the organizer is not yet 100% sure that the event will take place, a question mark will appear before the information on the number of days.
We hope that this website will be an excellent tool to facilitate the planning of such events and events that are not mutually exclusive or overlapping.
Under the calendar are the most important documents of the Catholic Church on human life and family. These are the official translations. We encourage everyone to study them.
